Love is the Movement

My name is Amada.

In the past, I’ve been diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa, Clinical Depression, Body Dismorphic Disorder, and OCD tendencies. I have been on a journey for the past 2 years of my life. It hasn’t been fun, it hasn’t been easy, but I will say this: it has been worth it.

Today, I am getting discharged from outpatient treatment. I have waited for this day for years. I have fallen on my face more times than I can count, cried hundreds of tears, and relapsed several times. I was even told that I would never really recover, that I was just going to have to live like this for the rest of my life.

But here I am, today, to say that those doctors and therapists were wrong. I am here today to tell you, dear one, that recovery is indeed possible. Yeah, it’s hard, but it wouldn’t be such a big deal if it wasn’t hard. 

I just wanted to remind all of you beautiful people out there that you are more than what you are going through, more than your past, and more than your struggle. You are beautiful simply because you are you, and there is nobody else on this earth that comes close to the same. So. Embrace it. I know it’s hard to love yourself. I know it’s hard to simply toss aside what our culture tells us, and to embrace the beauty that lies within us. we are all broken. But that’s okay. Because beauty shines the best when it shines through our cracks.

Don’t give up. I believe in you, and I’m here for you, no matter what. Stay strong.
